Just because a restaurant doesn’t have a luxurious storefront doesn’t make it any less delicious. Miami’s Blue Collar is a prime example.
Hidden within a motel, the restaurant offers an assortment of dishes, including grilled mahi mahi, jambalaya, and braised brisket. Yet there’s one plate in particular that keeps customers coming back – Chef Daniel Serfer’s spicy oxtail dish.
Serfer revealed how to make his special comfort food recipe on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives to host Guy Fieri, who was clearly impressed.
First, Serfer puts salt and pepper on the tails and cooks them in a pot of oil until they turn brown. He then takes the meat out and puts it on a plate only to add carrots, onions, garlic, celery, mangos, scotch bonnet, and thyme, as well as some more salt and pepper in the oil. He even adds some wine.
Serfer then dumps the tails back into the pot along with the vegetables and lets it cook for four-to-seven hours. Once cooked, he puts the tails on top of some mashed potatoes and sprinkles on some chives for more taste.
“You got massive flavor,” Fieri says after taking a bite. “That is some awesome oxtail!"
