Spanish actress Ana Obregón recently welcomed a newborn daughter. Many were surprised, especially since Ana is 68 years old. The star has now shared that the baby girl born to her via surrogate is actually her granddaughter and the child of her late son, who died in May 2020.
She told Hola! Magazine, "She is Aless's daughter and when she grows up, I will tell her that her father was a hero so that she knows who she is and how proud she should be of him."
Ana added that her son knew about the plans to conceive a child and actually had his sperm frozen before he died. She said that she began pursuing bringing a baby into the world the day her son died.
Ana also explained that she opted to use a US-based surrogate because that is where her son's sperm was frozen. Additionally, all forms of surrogacy are banned in Spain (as well as in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Taiwan).

The entire process took three years, largely due to the legal hurdles that Ana had to overcome. The newborn is legally Ana's daughter, but the actress says she will make it clear that the baby is really her granddaughter.
Ana says bringing her granddaughter into the world was difficult, but "it's what has kept me alive. It's just that if it weren't for this, I wouldn't be here anymore."
She also wrote about her interview with Hola! on Instagram.
In a post shared on April 5, 2023, Ana wrote, "My Aless: I swore I would save you from cancer and I failed you. I promised you that I would bring your daughter into the world and here she is in my arms."
She continued, "When I hug her I feel an indescribable emotion, because it's as if she were hugging you again.
"I swear that I will take care of her with the infinite love that I have to give and you from heaven will help me."
Ana concluded, "You are the love of my life in heaven and your daughter the love of my life on earth. I love you to death. Mom ❤️."
