Woman Stops At Nothing To Rescue A Scared, Stray Pit Bull

On April 9, 2015, a woman went to track down a homeless pit bull who'd been spotted eating out of a pile of trash. The dog wanted nothing to do with the stranger, and kept growling at her to back away. The pit bull, who had been neglected by society and treated like dirt, had no reason to trust anyone.

But the more the dog avoided the woman, the more the woman followed carefully in her trail. Most people would be intimidated by a big, loud, threatened dog, but this determined woman stood her ground. 10 minutes went by, and it seemed like no progress was being made between the two.

But at 5:28, something incredible happened. You have to see for yourself — it's simply magical.

Sometimes, all you need to do is show love and patience, and an animal will change right in front of your eyes.

The woman from the Speranza Animal Rescue in Mechanicsburg, PA, says:

I continued to follow her down through several alleys. She would keep looking back at me – show me her teeth and let out a few more barks. After about 10 minutes of this, she came to a stop. She stood there and stared at me. I knew this was my chance.

I sat down in the alleyway about 10 feet from her. She continued to bark at me. I turned my back to her and just began talking… I assured her it was ok now. I told her I was not here to hurt her. I just wanted to help.

I could feel her come behind me and she began to sniff me all over. I kept talking… she then came around towards my front and so gently sniffed my cheek.

What she did next absolutely made my heart sink – she lifted her left paw up at my face and then so gently curled up into a ball in my lap. She looked up at me with those eyes and gave me a quick kiss on the forehead. A kiss that was her way of saying thank you.

The staff at the Speranza Animal Rescue says Dolly is a sweet, happy-go-lucky pup. She's looking for her forever home, but is enjoying life with her temporary family until her forever family comes along.
