Grass stains can be some of the hardest stains to remove because the green coloring in the grass acts in a similar manner to color dye. People often try many different methods to get rid of them, but whatever you do, avoid using ammonia or alkaline detergents because they will set the stain.

Try using a combination of liquid dishwashing soap and hydrogen peroxide, along with cold water. Massage it into the area thoroughly and let it sit for 15–20 minutes. Then, rinse the area completely and wash the item like normal. Those grass-stained pants should be as good as new!

Mud stains can truly be a pain to remove, but if you get to them right away, you should be able to get them out. Make sure you never try to remove a mud stain that is wet or damp, as it will spread the stain and ingrain it in the fibers of the fabric.

Use a knife to gently remove any dried, excess mud first. Then, soak the item in warm water and a little laundry detergent. This should loosen the mud from the garment. If the stain appears to be stubborn, try washing it in white vinegar afterwards to get the last of that pesky mud!

Some people have designated "painting clothes" because they are so convinced that paint stains will never come out. But getting paint out of regular clothing is actually very doable. If the paints are water-based, flush the paint from the fabric by using a stream of warm water from the wrong side of the garment. Before washing, rub laundry detergent and water into the stain, rinsing and repeating several times.

If you find yourself with an oil-based paint stain, you have to try to beat the clock. Once an oil paint dries, you will likely be out of luck. While it is still wet, place paper towels over the stain and apply turpentine or paint thinner from the back side of the stain. Change the paper towels often as more and more paint is absorbed into them. This may take a long time, but once finished, soak the stain in extremely hot water overnight to achieve the best paint-free results!

Sweat stains can be extremely embarrassing and can be highlighted by certain colors of material. So once you notice them, you'll want to get working on them right away. Fortunately, they are not too difficult to take care of.

Begin by soaking the garment in vinegar and warm water for 20 minutes. Remove the garment and apply a mixture of baking soda, salt, and hydrogen peroxide to the area. Then simply throw the shirt in the laundry and those unsightly sweat stains should be all gone!

Rushing to get out of the house in the morning can sometimes lead to a spilled cup of coffee and an unfortunate coffee stain. Start by blotting the coffee stain with a paper towel until little or no more of it is coming off any longer. Make sure not to rub the stain with the paper towel, as that may cause it to spread.

Next, soak the garment in vinegar. This will loosen up the stain enough to rinse with cold water. If the stain is persistent, rub a paste of baking soda and water directly on the area. Rinse with cold water and wash like normal to get rid of those coffee spots!

Everyone has had the harrowing experience of dropping food on themselves at some point or another. This is usually immediately followed by a scramble to remove the stain. This method is very simple, but does require removing the garment.

Place the item in a mixture of dishwashing liquid and water, and allow it to soak for 15 minutes. This should serve to loosen and remove the stain. If it is being difficult, you can try purchasing digestive enzyme tablets and grinding them up in some water. You can use this paste to rub directly onto the stain. This should take care of the problem in 20 minutes!

Red wine stains are not only extremely noticeable, but can be very embarrassing. The most important thing to remember with these stains is to keep them wet. Once the stain is dry, it will be very difficult to remove.

Using water, club soda, or white wine, sprinkle the area (or use a spray bottle). Then, blot the garment from the outside of the stain in. Be careful not to rub the stain or it may begin to spread. After blotting the stain away, wash the garment in cool water for a red wine-free look!

Minor blood stains as the result of a cut or bruise can be extremely frustrating. But luckily, there are a couple of tricks you can use to get rid of them. If there is only a tiny bit of blood, try rubbing your own saliva on the stain. Then, rinse the area and the blood should be gone.

For more severe stains, rinse the item in cold water. Then, wash it with a cup of hydrogen peroxide and a cup of baking soda. If the stain is extremely stubborn, try soaking the item in warm water, dishwashing liquid, and ammonia for 15 minutes. That blood should be gone in no time!

Grease and oil stains can be extremely frustrating, but they will not necessarily permanently damage your clothes. Simply rub baking soda and water onto the stain and rinse with cold water.

However, if you are having a more difficult time, you can always try soaking the item in vinegar and scrubbing it with dish soap. As before, rinse with cold water. As a very last resort, you can apply WD-40 to the stain for about 20 seconds, as long as you rinse it immediately. These methods should leave you with a grease-free garment!
