Like most little girls, I definitely had my share of daydreams where my prince charming sweeps me off my feet and asks me to be his bride. To be honest, I’d be lying if I said I don’t still drift off with those thoughts from time to time still. I like to pretend I’m totally uninterested in the whole romance department, but I can already tell you what colors my bridesmaids will wear. (It’s pink, just like Julia Roberts’ bridal party in Steel Magnolias.)
While I continue to wait around for my big moment, I can’t help but swoon when I see others celebrating their love for each other with an elaborate proposal. Sure, some people prefer to keep it simple. But I’m a huge fan of those couples who believe in going big or going home.
That’s exactly what Chops Owen accomplished when she popped the question to her girlfriend, Karen Blackburn, right in the middle of the Manchester Airport. Owen had been planning to wait until their fall vacation to Iceland, but just couldn’t hold herself back anymore. So, she and the couple’s family and friends prepared a flash mob to greet Blackburn when she returned from a trip with her daughter.
Owen was anxious to see her after two weeks apart, and even more so to hear Blackburn’s answer. Though the two have only been together for two months, they’ve known each other for over a year, and it’s clear just how much love is between them.
