6-Year-Old U.S. Boy Offers A Place In His Family Home To Syrian Refugee

A simple letter from a little boy is proving that love will always conquer hate, "remember the boy who was picked up by the ambulance in Syria?" the letter addressed to the President begins.

From then on, 6-year-old Alex from New York won the hearts and minds of the millions of people who couldn't help but smile at the total innocence of this little boy's heartfelt suggestion.

We all remember the heartbreaking video of that little Syrian boy who was left in utter shock. At only five years old, little Omran Daqneesh was left stunned and confused after his house was bombed due to fighting from the country's civil war.

While the boy was covered in ash, grit, and blood, all he could do was sit there in disbelief. He wouldn't cry, he wouldn't move, he seemed to be "shell shocked," something that no one, let alone a 5-year-old boy, should ever have to experience.

Little Omran forced us all to think about our own families in a similar situation. Why was this cute little boy doomed to suffer just because he was born in Syria? He did absolutely nothing to deserve this, why are we so safe and happy at home without a care while boys like him suffer? The war rages on.

So little Alex from New York came up with an idea and he wanted to let the President know. He wants to share his life with Omran. He wants Omran to come live with him and his family. Alex wants to "play together," and stresses that "he will be our brother." He will bring Omran to his school and introduce him to all of his friends. He will love Omran like the brother he is.

It's sad to think that Alex's letter is in itself "silly." The boy is too young to realize what he's saying isn't reasonable. The boy is too young to realize that his suggestion is impossible. The boy is too young to be cynical. The boy is too young to be ruled by fear.

Hopefully, Alex's generation will be the one to break free from these chains of hate and suspicion, and replace those with hope and salvation. We can only hope that Alex will hold on to this innocence for as long as possible, and maybe one day his letter will be more than a dream, it will be a reality.

Please SHARE Alex's letter if you think we need to learn to love more!
