Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 For Fan’s Cancer Treatment

Taylor Swift may be singing about a relationship gone sour on her recent hit “Bad Blood,” but the song has a deeper meaning for one young fan. It’s become her “fight song.”

Naomi Oakes, 11, was diagnosed with leukemia on June 25 and will have to spend 6–9 months in the hospital to finish treatment. This means she won’t be able to attend Swift’s concert in Arizona on August 18 as originally planned. Of course she's devastated.

On July 5, Naomi’s family shared a video on YouTube hoping to get the singer’s attention. They asked Swift to share a message for Naomi on her Instagram.

The multiplatinum singer answered their prayers in a much bigger way – she donated $50,000 to the family's GoFundMe page for the cancer treatment.

"To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I'm sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let's focus on getting you feeling better. I'm sending the biggest hugs to you and your family,” Swift wrote.

Perhaps it’s because cancer is something that hits home for the singer — Swift revealed in April that her mother had been diagnosed — or simply because of the love she has for her fans. Whatever the case may be, it left Naomi speechless.

“I seriously think I’m going to pass out right now,” Naomi said in another video after reading the message.
