When the students of Mrs. Brown's class came home with a letter, the parents were probably concerned at first.
Was their child having trouble in a particular subject? Did they say or do something bad? Were they not playing well with others?
But when the parents read this note they all suddenly found a tear or two in their eyes. It seems that, as the school was preparing for the stressful state standardized testing, that particular teacher wanted each and every one of her students to know that this test did not mean everything.
Like the little girl who took a stand against her local school board to declare that she was more than just a statistic, these little students all need to be told that they're worth more than what some state's grading system tells them they are.
So, when your little boy or girl is getting ready for "the big test," you might want to read this out loud to them. Whether they're in elementary school, middle school, or even if they're freaking out about their SATs, final exams, or even their GREs, this letter might get a lot of use over the years.
So please, print it out or save it, and when you get a chance, read this out loud to your child. It's a wonderful message that every student, big or small, deserves to hear about themselves.
And please SHARE this wonderful letter with all of your friends and family!
