Compassion is a value passed down from generation to generation, parent to child. Although we may each believe to be compassionate, we tend to experience emotion for people who are socioeconomically closer to us.
Those of us who are very well-off will empathize with the problems of our peers, and perhaps be less concerned for the homeless, even if they are involved in altruistic endeavors involving the homeless.
Even age can be a factor: we do not often see children sympathizing with adults, or vice versa.
But true compassion crosses these boundaries. Check out this 6-year-old girl, who was so concerned for a crying homeless man that she broke away from her mom to give him money and water.
Just like the little girl, a teen followed his instinct to help a fellow human in need. And his proud mother caught the moment in a photo that went viral in no time!
Javen Harris saw a homeless woman by the side of the road, and had his mom pull over. He got out of the vehicle and walked over to the woman, sandwiches in hand.
Needless to say, she was touched by the gesture. Mom was equally touched, especially when Javen says he learned this kind of sympathy from her! He had food to spare, so why not give it to someone in need?
Please SHARE if you know someone who would have pulled the exact same move if they saw the homeless woman!
