These orphaned baby orangutans are slowly being rehabilitated until they can be safely returned to their natural habitats — a process that can take almost ten years! Because these baby apes are so like humans, they need constant care when they're small, which sometimes means that caretakers have to take them home overnight. When they first come to the center, they are typically scared and sad (since most of them have been separated from their families), and it takes some time for them to feel safe and secure.
Once they realize they're not alone, these babies really start to thrive, and I'm so glad there are orangutang centers like these to help these endangered animals!
