Comedian Amy Schumer has been impressing critics and earning herself new fans with her quick wit, intelligent jokes, and scathing satire. Her sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer, now in its third season, has already got everyone talking.
In the below sketch, Schumer is seen jogging and exercising through a park, listening to her iPhone, when she passes a tree, she suddenly stops running and sees her three biggest comedy heroes hanging out and having a picnic.
The picnic is attended by none other than the holy trinity of comedy: Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Patricia Arquette. Schumer, understandably amazed by this encounter, eventually joins them to talk about the horrific double standards of Hollywood. While men like Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, and George Clooney "get better with age," all the women in Hollywood are heavily scrutinized for their weight, hair, and "who" they're wearing.
As the four funny-women enjoy their champagne-and-wine-fueled brunch, they continue their scathing takedown of Hollywood point by point. It's just like watching Fey in her Saturday Night Live days, or even 30 Rock, and Louis-Dreyfus is as funny as she's always been, from Seinfeld to Veep!
The jokes are crisp and hilariously delivered in this giant middle finger sent directly to Hollywood's underlying sexism and hyper-focusing on all the wrong things.
Schumer is definitely a comedian who's really hitting her stride, and we're excited to see what other jokes she's going to have to offer.
