Tom Brady had a major meltdown during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
When the game wasn't going well in the third quarter, Tom was spotted raging on the sidelines. He even grabbed a Microsoft tablet and smashed it into the ground in a fit of uncontrollable anger. After the game, Tom briefly spoke about what an "emotional game" it was during a press conference. And later on Twitter, he apologized for smashing the tablet.
While his team had been on a major seven-game losing streak against the Saints, with four of those losses coming since Tom arrived at Tampa Bay, he's also been in the headlines for his personal struggles. He and his wife, Gisele Bündchen, are reportedly living apart, which seems to have stemmed from Tom's choice to unretire from football just a few weeks after he announced he was retiring to spend more time with his family.
Gisele has been relatively outspoken in her most recent comments about her marriage. "I've done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]," she told Elle earlier this month. "I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams."
She continued, "Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing him succeed, and being fulfilled in his career — it makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I've done a good job on that."
Multiple sources have claimed that the couple are no longer living together, with Gisele living in New York while Tom stays in Florida. Gisele was spotted crying while on the phone in NYC last week, as well, according to Page Six. Clearly, things aren't going well for the couple.
Insiders told Entertainment Tonight recently that Gisele was deeply hurt by Tom's choice to unretire. "Once Tom decided to go back to the NFL, she was devastated," a source said. "Gisele is very hurt."
"Gisele is upset with Tom and wants some space right now," another source added. "She is getting pushed to her limit. She has always supported Tom and has been there for him, but she is over it. She doesn't think Tom has been himself lately."
Only time will tell if the couple will reconcile or if they're headed for divorce. But it would be hard to say that there weren't clear red flags leading up to the turmoil. Gisele was upfront about wanting her husband to be more present in their children's lives, as well as stating concerns she has about his safety on the field. His choice to return to football had to be a pretty tough blow to take, and she may simply not want to stand for coming in second any longer.
Honestly, who could blame her?
