The years you spend in high school are years that you will make life long friends, begin to become an adult, and have a whole lot of fun before entering the real world in college or working a full-time job, but those four years can also be pretty brutal.
Most teenagers go through an awkward stage, have their first heart break, and have some kind of run in with bullying or feeling excluded, and each of those situations can feel devastating at the time.
When Hunter, a 17-year-old Junior with Down syndrome, transferred to Horicon High School this year, he took on all the things that come with being a high schooler and also signed up to be on the football team.
Knowing how high schoolers can be, his parents were delighted when they saw his new football team embracing him and treating him like a brother from the beginning, something we saw another team do when they invited an 8-year-old with Down syndrome to play.
Hunter's football family is so proud of him that they decided he deserved a chance to get in on the action during one of their recent games and made sure he got his time to shine!
After one of the referees threw a flag, Hunter got his chance to run his first ever touchdown, a moment that brought his parents to tears and the rest of the fans to their feet in applause!
The moment is something he will remember forever, and the reason why his teammates call him "inspiring".
