Utah Teen On Life Support After Being Shot In The Head By Ex-BF For Breaking Up With Him

A tragedy unfolded this week after a Utah teen broke up with her boyfriend.

According to local news outlets, 17-year-old Lily Conroy was shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend in an attempted murder-suicide shortly after she ended their relationship.

The teen is currently on life support.

The teen reportedly ended things with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Masao Kaanga. But the older teen didn't take the breakup well and began threatening the girl.

Then, on Wednesday, police conducted a welfare check on the pair, who were in a car at a Springville park.

The teens were both found with gunshot wounds to their heads and "slumped over in the front seats" of Kaanga's car, police said, per KUTV-TV. While the younger teen was "mortally wounded," Kaanga was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sadly, Conroy is not expected to survive. She is merely on life support to preserve her organs. "The family wishes to carry on their daughter's legacy to help someone in need," Springville Police Lieutenant Warren Foster said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the teen's family. At present, it's raised over $42,000.

The page reads, "At just 17 years old, she leaves behind her parents and 2 younger sisters, who love her fiercely. Lily was full of life and love. Everyone in the community is shocked and saddened by this tragedy that has affected so many."

Conroy was a junior at Springville High School, where she played on the softball team.

A candlelight vigil was held in her honor this week. "That's all we can do right now is just love them," Bishop Ryan Fish, who led the vigil, told KSL. "Wonderful families. They've been a part of this community for many, many years and very well respected, loved by everyone, as well as their children. Just amazing people."
