Pregnancy is often something that people want to celebrate. One woman on Reddit recently shared that as such, when her sister-in-law announced at a family event she was expecting a baby, the entire family was thrilled. However, things got a little weird not too long after the announcement.
Eventually, the sister-in-law began to suspect that her brother's wife was faking the pregnancy … and the story gets worse.
The entire family was thrilled with the news.
The woman begins, "My brother and I have never been close, so my SIL haven't been either. However one day after coming to a luncheon with our family she announced she was pregnant. At first everyone I including me was excited about having a new niece or nephew."
But things felt a little weird.
The woman continues, "However as she supposedly went onto the pregnancy '5-6 months' she wasn't growing, was drinking alcohol, never had any ultrasounds even though had 'hospital appointment my brother was never allowed to go to' was still bending heaving things for her job ( when asked if her job knew she was pregnant she said she never told them) [among] other things."
So she asked her brother if he ever saw a positive pregnancy test.
"One day I was annoyed at her behavior and asked if 'Anthony' (brother) asked if he ever saw a pregnancy test," the woman explains. "He said he didn't. I said to him I doubt she pregnant and should confirm she is because she is pregnant. 3 weeks later I found out that Anthony finds out she's not really pregnant after forcing her to allow him to go to a hospital for a checkup' (she did go to a checkup but no for pregnancy related issues)."
Now her brother wants a divorce.
"She's saying that I shouldn't have interfered into business I had anything to do with and now he's demanding a divorce. I said she shouldn't have faked a pregnancy. She said she had a miscarriage that the hospital later said to Anthony said she was never pregnant."
People are really confused.
The comments section on Reddit is filled with people who don't really understand what the woman planned to do about the faked pregnancy. As one person wrote, "I have a feeling that she didn't know much about pregnancy or how to fake it well so assumed that she could just say she miscarried at 9 months and bled and that was it."
But others say that people fake having kids all the time.
The conversation took a fascinating detour when one person brought up that they know people who pretend to have kids for a very different reason. As they shared, "Ive definitely heard about the fake kid and/or other family member.
"From the childfree subs. You just invent a child for yourself when you start a new job and then you dont have to deal with all the real parents trying to get you to cover for them because they need to take time off for their kid."
