A strong sense of intuition struck Casey as she sat in her usual spot at her local Denny’s. She had witnessed one of the servers meddling with an elderly man’s plate and no one else appeared to notice. What was she going to do about this?
Kesha Jackson was 18 years old and had been working at a Denny’s restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, for a while. She often worked long shifts as she was saving money to attend college.
One particular morning was super busy for Kesha. The restaurant was short-staffed and Kesha was having a difficult time staying on top of all of her tables and getting the food out to them promptly.
Casey was dining in at Denny’s that day and couldn’t help but notice Kesha pausing at one of the tables she was serving to whisper in an older man’s ear. The two appeared to be so engrossed in a private conversation that Casey observed Kesha not even hearing her name being called by the kitchen staff to come and pick up her orders.
The man whom Kesha was paying extra attention to that day was wearing an oxygen mask and appeared to have trouble breathing. After observing them for a few moments, Casey heard the older gentleman tell Kesha that he was experiencing trouble with his hands as they didn’t move or do things for him like they used to.
