Oklahoma Women Learn They Were Switched At Birth At The Same Hospital Over 50 Years Ago

DNA tests have served as incredible tools for a lot of people. Families have reunited, long-lost relatives have been tracked down, and more. But two women from Oklahoma recently found out what the other side of taking a DNA test can mean.

Tina Ennis and Jill Lopez were born on the same day at the same hospital over 50 years ago. Somehow, the two infants were swapped at birth, and the women weren't able to unravel the mystery until nearly six decades later.

Tina Ennis told The Daily Beast that the story really began when her daughter encouraged her to take a DNA test to find a relative. When Tina and her daughter both received their results, they learned that they had a lot of family members from a family tree neither of them recognized.

So Tina's mother, Kathryn Jones, took a test, too. She and Tina then found out they didn't share any relatives at all. The pair called the company that issued the test, assuming it was faulty. From there, they began searching online for members of the other family tree. Eventually, they found Jill Lopez.

Kathryn Jones was unable to process this reality until she saw a photo of Jill. The similarities between the biological mother and daughter were obvious.

The trio are now suing Duncan Regional Hospital for emotional distress. You can find more about the story in the video.
