Girl Secretly Snaps Photos Of Her Sweet Grandparents For A Week To Capture Their Timeless Love

My maternal grandparents were married for over 50 years before my grandma passed away. I was always in awe of how in love the two of them were even after being together for over half a century. They'd never go without saying "I love you" or giving each other a kiss — making me hope to one day find the same sort of love.

Esther Seim from Bentonville, Arkansas, also noticed how smitten her paternal grandparents, Carol and Gordon, were with each other.

For a week, Esther decided that she would secretly photograph her grandparents doing normal tasks throughout the day. She uploaded a series of photos to her Facebook page on September 28, 2017, and the results are the cutest!

"I culminated the week with a quick photo shoot in which they posed like a 20-year-old couple, still every bit in love as 70 years ago," Esther wrote.

Esther Seim, 20, from Bentonville, Arkansas, spent a week taking photos of her paternal grandparents, Gordon and Carol.

She then uploaded almost two dozen photos of her grandparents to her Facebook account to share with friends and family.

"I secretly photographed their remarkably active daily lives: simple things like driving, cooking, and serving meals, working in their garden, playing games with their grandchildren, reading their Bibles," she wrote in her Facebook post.

"My paternal grandparents, Gordon and Carol Seim, are 91 and 87 years young and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary last June. They met as children, growing up in a farm town in South Dakota called La Bolt," Esther wrote.

While Esther loves every photo she took, she does have a favorite.

"My favorite is definitely the one where they are looking at each other, and he has his hand on her cheek," she told LittleThings.

While her grandparents knew she was taking this photo, the others she uploaded were candid shots of the elderly couple going about their daily lives.

Esther snapped this photo sitting around the table with her grandparents and caught her grandpa stealing a glance at his wife.

"Grampa has beat cancer. Gramma has suffered through a hip and knee replacement," Esther explained. "They have their fair share of aches and pains. But through it all, you’ll never hear them complain."

One thing Esther always caught her grandparents doing was taking time to read their Bibles — as her grandpa can be seen doing here.

Sadly, Gordon started to go blind because of medication, but once he was off of it, the first thing he did was pull out his Bible and try to read it.

"My grandmother will often tell the story of the first morning he sat at his easy chair, opened his Bible, and told her he could read it," she wrote.

Esther made sure to take a few photos of her grandparents in their yard, as they love to be in nature.

She wrote:

Their lives are simple. They enjoy small pleasures: tending their garden of flowers, rhubarb, strawberries, potatoes, and the like, feeding the many birds, deer, and squirrels that have become regular visitors to their house.

Grampa caught Esther taking a photo of him filling the bird bath, but by that huge smile, it's safe to say he was A-OK with her snapshot.

"Their earthly legacy includes four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all who love them dearly," Esther wrote.

The family loves to get together and play games — a tradition in their household.

Gordon was in the Navy and, upon his return, his friend's little sister was all grown up and caught his eye — that happened to be Carol!

"They have shown me that being 'in love' doesn't have to stop at the 'wrinkles and white hair' stage, it can become much, much stronger," Esther ended her post.
