Who doesn't love a perfectly crafted, expertly timed April Fools' prank?
Most of the time, the best of these practical jokes are played on children, and, in most cases, involve the use of food in one way way or another.
Last year, one ingenious mother won the day by disguising hunks of meatloaf as cupcakes in an adorable prank on her kids.
This year, however, we're excited to share something that will trick even the most learned of grownups.
Days ago, L.A.-based photographer and stylist Christine H. McConnell shared a most intriguing creation on image sharing site Imgur.
Upon first glance, her photo presents a colorful, expertly arranged fruit basket. There are bananas, strawberries, oranges, grapes, limes, lemons, and apples.
After splitting each piece of fruit open, however, you'll discover something that'll blow your mind…

Christine H. McConnell is a famous photographer and stylist based in Los Angeles, CA.
She works on a lot of photo shoots that involve hair, makeup, and fashion, and several of her designs have appeared on billboards and advertising campaigns all over the country.
For April Fools' Day this year, however, she decided to present something extra special, and, shall we say, flavorful to us all…
Upon first glance, anyone would simply think that McConnell had put together a very pretty fruit basket.
But just take one look at exactly how she constructed and arranged this tasty basket, and you'll be doubling over with laughter.
McConnell reveals on Imgur that she had crafted the inside of every single piece of "fruit" with ingredients for a cake.
"Aesthetically, you can't top the appearance of fruit," she writes in her book, Deceptive Desserts.
"Mother Nature nailed that right out of the gate. But what if you could improve what's inside? Add some butter, copious amounts of sugar, and a lot of patience, and you get something deceptively delicious and completely unique."
For the realistic-looking "banana" bread bars, McConnell used "a little allspice and cinnamon mixed with some vodka" to create the typical "bruising" colors on the fruit.
She used real fruit and tin foil to make little baking molds for each tiny cake.
Every piece of "fruit" in the basket is coated with a layer of butter cream frosting or a food coloring glaze, and then covered in extra fruit juice glaze, to give it that shiny gloss.
"Everything shown is really a cake, pastry, or cookie," McConnell explained further.
After the bananas, we have the caramel apple pies, looking delightfully creamy and juicy all at once.
Next up, we have the chocolate yogurt grape pops, which are really just yogurt-covered raisins dipped in colored melting chocolate, and assembled in bunches.
Here, we see the beautiful orange creme cakes, which are placed among little bunches of blooming orange blossoms.
And lastly, feast your eyes on the blueberry lemon hand pies, which look amazingly like perfect yellow lemons on the outside.
Other "fruits" in the basket were the lime meringues, pear tarts, and chocolate-covered strawberries, which were sprinkled throughout all the other fruits.
What a fantastic-looking, festive little arrangement!
