Summer Olympics Party Ideas Worthy Of A Gold Medal

Summer entertaining doesn't have to be strictly limited to pool parties and barbecues. In fact, the Summer Olympics is a wonderful reason to throw another summer bash. Not only do you get to hang out with your family and friends, you also get to cheer on Team USA.

This year, the world has its eyes on Rio, in anticipation of the 2016 Summer Olympics, which run from August 5 to August 21.

To be honest, I'm pretty excited for this year's Games. I always have the best time watching all of the Olympic festivities — from the opening ceremony and all the beautiful gymnastics routines to the nail-biting swimming and track and field events.

It's just amazing to see the best athletes from around the world come together.

Lately, I've been searching high and low for awesome Olympic party ideas, and I finally found a few ideas that are both fun and easy to make.

1. Oreo Medals

Use edible gold paint to turn ordinary Oreo cookies into gold medals. Add Fruit by the Foot snacks to make the neck strap, and you're done. Everyone can be a winner with these fun snacks!

2. Olympic Jell-O Pool

In preparation for the Summer Olympics, make a "swimming pool" made with blue Jell-O, Fruit by the Foot to serve as lane ropes, and Teddy Grahams as the swimmers.

It's almost too cute to eat, but trust me, it'll be a hit, so take photos before it's gobbled up.

4. Olympic Candy Jars

Transform regular Mason jars into cute Olympic ring candy jar holds with this fun DIY project.

Supplies:

— 5 Mason jars
— Craft paint (blue, yellow, black, green and red)
— Paintbrushes
— Hot-glue gun
— Various candy, each associated with color ring they'll be in.

Stuff each jar with candy, and arrange in the correct Olympic color pattern. Then, you're ready to serve some sweet treats to your guests.

5. Olympic Oreo Pops

Turn your Oreo cookies into Olympic ring pops.

Supplies:

1. Insert lollipop stick into each Oreo.

  1. Microwave the candy melts in separate bowls, starting with :30, and then every :15 until fully melted.

  2. Dip each Oreo cookie into one color until you have all five "rings." Put in the freezer until you're ready to serve.
