Before this airman left for deployment, he and his wife adopted Emma, a special needs puppy with a severe birth defect.
Emma was heartbroken when her dad had to leave for service. Her mom says that Emma usually sits at the end of the hallway when she comes home, but here we see the very moment Emma is reunited with her dad after six months — and instead of waiting in the hallway, she pulls herself to the door to welcome him home.
I'm so touched by this moment — and I'm so glad it was caught on camera! Reunions between dogs and their beloved humans are especially emotional when that person is in the military, much like this overjoyed dog who just can't control himself when his favorite person finally comes home.
It should be noted that Emma doesn't have a set of wheels because she refuses to use them, no matter how many times her mom and dad tried — and they've tried many times. The thing is, Emma has no idea she's "special." She loves life and runs and plays on her own, and she doesn't let her handicap get in the way of being as "normal" as possible. If she's happy, I'm happy!
