One of the best ways to take a breather from our busy lives is to disconnect. This would include unplugging from phones, computers, and anything that has wires.
We've seen plenty of beautifully converted homes that serve as "getaways" or places to truly have a peace of mind. They're not always entirely restored — some of them, in fact, were built from the ground up — but they all inspire a calm and harmonious environment.
Airbnb user Joe and his wife Megan have worked to completely refurbish a quaint one-room schoolhouse from the 1800s. It is located on a quiet country road in the Catskill Mountains in Bovina, New York, which is located about 100 miles north-northwest of New York City.
The converted home is entirely off-the-grid and is available for rent. The "mountain schoolhouse" would be perfect for those looking for a charming place to call home for a while.

Joe's converted schoolhouse is located in the secluded hamlet of Bovina Center in Delaware County, NY.
Its most incredible feature is perhaps the stunning view — miles and miles of blue skies, nature, and the Catskill's green peaks.
Simple, elegant furnishings line the restored interior.
Wooden accents and white walls contribute to the overall rustic feel.
Since there are no "closed" rooms, all areas flow freely into each other, allowing the space to be filled with optimal lighting.
The earthy tables are adorned with charming crockery.
The bedroom area sits to the right of the entrance.
According to one reviewer, Lorin, the bed and linen were extremely soft, and the owners even provided a great stack of reading, which included the book Heidi, by Swiss author Johanna Spyri.
There is even a clawfoot bathtub in the bathroom.
The town of Bovina only has a few restaurants and one general store, but it is perfectly picturesque.
The kitchen is quite minimal — there is a stove and a mini-fridge. But there is a grill outside that renters can use.
Pure nature surrounds the drive up to the mountain schoolhouse. The pristine landscape around the home is what's unforgettable.
Though the schoolhouse remains in a secluded spot, it is relatively close to the town center — which provides shopping areas, art centers, and museums.
The home accommodates up to four guests, and is pet-friendly.
