While plenty of people love to store their photos on the internet nowadays, there is still something great about a picture of a beautiful memory hanging in your home.
I am always on the lookout for new and unique types of picture frames to display my memories, like this DIY Mason jar photo holder. So when I spotted an easy and creative DIY project to make the perfect one-of-a-kind photo frame, I knew I had to try it.
In fact, I decided to make one of these beautiful hardcover book picture frames right here in the LittleThings office. And the result? Now I have an amazing and unique picture frame sitting right on my desk, with my niece and two nephews smiling back at me.
These DIY frames are extremely easy to make, and they take practically no time at all. All you'll need are a hardcover book, a photograph, a pen, an X-Acto knife, a plastic page protector, clear tape, and decorative washi tape.

I love upcycle projects, so I decided to use an old book that was sitting on my shelf to create this beautiful and unique photo frame. Start with any hardcover book and, of course, one of your favorite photos.
Trace the outline of the photograph onto the inside of the front cover.
Depending on the size of the photograph, you may need to use a slightly larger (or smaller) book.
Use the X-Acto knife to cut 1/8 of an inch inside the line you've drawn.
Rather than trying to push the knife through on the first try, take your time to make slices along each side until the blade pokes through.
Once the rectangle is cut out, pop out the piece. The frame will already be starting to take shape.
Line up the sheet protector with the bottom corner of the drawn rectangle from earlier.
Cut the protector by slicing just outside the original lines.
Tape the sheet protector to the inside of the book on three sides, forming the perfect pocket to remove and replace the photograph.
Slide the photograph into place in the protective cover.
Now, the frame is almost complete. If you prefer a more rustic look, you can leave the frayed edges around the outside of the picture.
However, I decided to neaten up the edges by applying decorative washi tape all the way around.
The design created a beautiful border and took care of the frayed areas.
And in less than 15 minutes, I was able to have my very own upcycled hardcover book photo frame for my desk at work!
These creative frames are so simple to make, and they require barely any time or money at all. What a perfect and unique way to frame your favorite photos!
