When a professional photographer attends a wedding to capture a couple’s special day, you likely wouldn’t think that they would leave the event having suffered a physical assault. Unfortunately, it appears that this might be a frightening new crime trend to watch out for.
Inside Edition reports on a handful of violent acts involving a band of disguised individuals running up to wedding photographers on the job and attempting to steal their expensive photography equipment.
Inside Edition shows footage taken from a social media account that shows two armed individuals in hoodies coming at a photographer on the job and pistol-whipping him. The photographer is shown to be clinging to his camera bag in a desperate attempt to hold onto the camera he was using to capture what was supposed to be a beautiful day filled with love.
Authorities say that just hours before this attack, it appears that the same armed individuals attempted to steal camera equipment from another photographer in the area. This all took place at San Francisco’s iconic Palace of Fine Arts, which is a popular backdrop for wedding photos.
Inside Edition spoke to a professional photographer, Chloe Jackman, who told them that her pricey camera equipment has been stolen from her car three times.
“It’s a violation. It’s heartbreaking,” Chloe explains. She’s recently adopted a couple of new practices, including bringing her husband with her on shoots to keep watch for thieves as well as utilizing a leather body strap to keep her camera nearby at all times, to help keep her safe.
