Woman Saved After A Heart Attack Thanks To A Volunteer Firefighter’s Haircut Appointment

There are few things I'm willing to credit to coincidence or chance. But sometimes, when there is no other explanation, all you can do it say that fate, the most powerful agent, brought two people together. These chance encounters are also ways in which people claim that their lives were saved. One volunteer firefighter is perhaps willing to bet that it was meant to be that he was able to save a life.

Keith Mills, also a Boeing engineer, didn't know that the day he scheduled his haircut would also be the day he saved the life of Michelle Clark. He left work early to get to his appointment, stopping at a gas station beforehand. There, Clark collapsed in front of him.

Mills' 12 years of training immediately kicked in. Clark was suffering from heart failure when Mills performed CPR to try to revive her. Paramedics arrived and whisked her away, but without Mills, she would not have survived her heart attack.

He explains to KTVI, "Every minute without CPR, the person's chance of survival is dropping 10 to 12 percent. So what you're doing is keeping them going long enough to get the AED on which is a shock and brings them back."

While Clark still has a long recovery ahead of her, she wants to express her thanks to Mills for saving her life — and it's all because he left work early!

If you think CPR training is a good idea for all and want to thank Mills for his heroism, please SHARE!
