Another new report has raised questions about what is going on between Dolly Parton’s family and her estate after her death. Shortly after Dolly’s death, claims about her nephew Bryan Seaver took off online. She’s Alive, LLC., which Dolly set up to protect her business interests, sued Bryan, who also worked as head of security for Dolly. The lawsuit accused him of extortion and violent threats. He was also fired from his job in September.
Now, a new report alleges that his sister Rebecca Seaver has been fired as well, and fans are growing increasingly concerned about what’s going on.
Rebecca worked as Dolly’s museum and archives director.
But according to a new report from TMZ, She’s Alive, LLC. allegedly decided to fire her and her entire staff. A museum that Rebecca was working on, Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum, just opened in September. The exact reason for the decision remains unclear. But people online are getting increasingly suspicious.
“People’s capacity for greed never fails to shock me,” someone on Reddit wrote. “Is the estate manager trying to get more funds for themselves? It’s a disgrace to fire family members.”
People were especially upset when they found out about Rebecca.
From what they knew, Dolly really loved Rebecca and trusted her to do this job. “Realllly really hoping this isn’t true,” another fan commented. “She worked alongside her since childhood and knew almost more than anyone did about her attire. Probably the most disappointing news since her passing if true.”
A second fan added, “Dolly spent years collaborating with her, and Rebecca knew better than anyone what Dolly wanted for her legacy. Just look at Dolly’s memoir, Behind the Seams—Rebecca played such a massive role that her name is right there on the front cover!”
Meanwhile, a third fan called Rebecca “a true historian of Dolly’s legacy and wardrobe, which is a key part of her image,” which made the decision feel especially “sad.”
Bryan has seemingly reacted to the news.
On October 31, he took to Facebook to praise his sister. He also mentioned Danielle Parton, who was recently selected to serve as the brand ambassador for Dolly’s estate, according to USA Today. Danielle is the daughter of Dolly’s brother Bobby.
“I am very proud of my sister Rebecca Seaver and her endeavors building Dolly’s archive and museum, and my cousin Danielle Parton is my closest family and my buddy,” Bryan wrote. “We are nearest in age and have always been pals.”
Like some other relatives have done in the past, he also mentioned that there’s no conflict between them, in spite of the ongoing rumors about issues within the family.
“I have always and will forever sing her praises and support her as she goes about her journey and career,” Bryan wrote. “Both of these women are dynamos in their fields and there is no feud between us. I love them both with all my heart.”
And when interacting with fans in the comments, he seemingly tried to reassure everyone that things would be OK. He suggested that there would be (potentially positive?) updates in the future as well. “Everything is fine,” he said. “Dolly’s legacy will continue in glory. We are all fine. Stay tuned…”
