Long before Wicker made its way to the big screen, TikTok got hold of the trailer and its general premise, and memes and jokes were born out of it all immediately. So by the time Wicker actually came out, people were thirsting over the movie’s male lead, Alexander Skarsgård, and his character’s wicker body. The entire body.
Now, gynecologists are warning against any real life reenactments you see in the movie regarding the bedroom and wicker. Yes, it has to be said, because in between all of the jokes about humping wicker furniture and using phallic wicker decor in the bedroom, there are inevitably going to be those superfans who want to actually know what it’s like. And experts are weighing in against it.
Alexander Skarsgård’s character in ‘Wicker’ has fans eager to see him in a few compromising positions.
Wicker, which is based on a short story by Ursula Wills-Jones called The Wicker Husband, is about a lonely spinster fisherwoman. She commissions a man-made husband who is brought to life by someone in her village and designed to love and please her. The husband is played by Alexander, known for mostly TV roles in shows like True Blood and the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies.
After the trailer for Wicker was released, users on social media began to speculate on what his character would look like nude in the movie. Naturally (or unnaturally, TBH), people began to also speculate on the feeling of being intimate with a man made out of wicker.
In one TikTok, a user shared clips of wicker decor using one of the sound effects from the Wicker trailer and wrote on the screen, “Wicker doesn’t splint when wet.”
Someone joked in the comments, “Gonna be a rough week for doctors.”
Another added, “Pray for your local ER nurses.”

According to the New York Post, medical experts are advising against making any of your fantasies regarding the Wicker movie a reality. That means keeping wicker and other dangerous and foreign objects out of the bedroom. And, for that matter, any other room of the house where you might want to play out a Wicker fantasy.
“In my career, I have examined women with cuts, tears, infections and injuries from foreign objects, and I have taken some of them to the operating room,” OB-GYN Dr. Amy Novatt told the outlet. “Many were simply seeking pleasure and never expected harm.”
She also explained, “Wood can splinter, and plant material harbors bacteria and molds that can cause infection.”
Elsewhere, Dr. Lauren Streicher, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University, told Vulture that there isn’t any official data on sexual intercourse with wicker, but there are clear dangers.
“If there’s a chance that a piece of wicker could break off and stay inside her, then I would say it’s something to think about,” she said. “The other issue is scratching. A flesh-and-blood penis doesn’t have rough spots or splinters’ a wicker penis, I assume, does. Vaginal tissue very easily can get scratched and can bleed, depending on how smooth the wicker is. But I do want to be clear. There is no data on sex with a wicker penis.”
There were ‘Wicker’ jokes with innuendo all over social media well before the movie’s release.
@jurassicfanatic42 Whether you’re lucky enough to see a 4DX screening or attending a regular show, you can’t forget to bring along a handful of Wicker corn stalks! Spotted these at Dollar Tree and I harvested enough for the friends who will be seeing Wicker with me. I’m sure it will enhance our viewing pleasure 😳 Now I just need to get my hands on that popcorn bucket… #wicker #wickermovie #wickerfilm #alexanderskarsgard #oliviacolman ♬ French Renaissance Song (France) [Instrumental] – Don Carroll
Let’s hope that most people who want to see Wicker or who do actually go see the film do not plan to make their fantasies a reality. But that doesn’t mean the TikToks aren’t funny anyway. In one, a woman edited clips of herself flirting with and getting close to her wicker laundry hamper. In another video, a user shows faux wicker corn husks at Dollar Tree and jokes in the video that they are “movie props.” So yeah, it’s a whole thing.
