Kellie Pickler’s Bitter Battle With Late Husband’s Family Comes To An End After Years Of Ugly Accusations

After Kellie Pickler’s husband, Kyle Jacobs, died by suicide in 2023, she and her in-laws got involved in a bitter dispute. It seems that the legal battle has finally come to an end after more than two years, according to recent reports.

It started in 2024 when Kyle’s parents, Reed and Sharon, accused Kellie of refusing to hand over certain items after Kyle’s death. These items included things like an iPhone, firearms, watches, instruments, and hard drives.

Kellie pushed back on these claims at the time.

And she ended up filing a lawsuit against her late husband’s parents. In it, she alleged that his parents “entered (her) home and obtained items of personal property after (Kyle’s) death.” They reportedly did not get permission to enter her home and didn’t tell her which items they took while they were there. She also claimed that the items that Kyle’s parents requested were things that she did not actually have or things that belonged to her. Meanwhile, his parents argued that these items belonged “indisputably to the estate.”

The situation escalated and got increasingly bitter. At one point, Kylie’s parents accused Kellie of taking “what should have been a simple matter” and turning “it into a highly personal crucible, painting herself as the tragic victim.”

More than two years later, they have reached an agreement.

The details remain unclear, as the settlement was confidential. Documents obtained by People do, however, state that Kyle’s parents and Kellie are “satisfied with the distribution of assets” after the years-long dispute. The documents also noted that they “have fully resolved all claims, disputes, and requests for relief by and between them.”

Like Kellie, Kyle worked in the music industry. They met and started dating in 2008 and then got engaged in 2010. Kellie previously described the day she got engaged as the “most amazing day.” In 2011, they got married. After tying the knot, they also worked together as musicians. In 2015, Kellie praised her husband when talking to People about her single, “Feeling Tonight,” which they had worked on together.

She told the publication that the song was about “summer love” or your first love, and it reminded her of Kyle because they were “still like newlyweds” after seven years together.

Kellie previously described the time after her husband’s death as the “darkest time” of her life.

Kyle died by suicide at age 49 on February 17, 2023. It was about six months later, in August of that year, when Kellie publicly commented on his death in a statement shared with People.

She focused on thanking everyone who had been supportive as she mourned. “Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way,” she said at the time. “It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers.”

She also shared an inspiring piece of advice that her husband had once shared with her. “One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'” she recalled. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”
