There is definitely a baby boom happening at the moment! Billionaire Elon Musk has become the latest celebrity to introduce a new baby to the world. That's right! Elon just become a father once again.
The 48-year-old welcomed his new baby on Monday. Now he's sharing the first photos of his newborn son. Elon's girlfriend, singer Grimes, gave birth to the sweet baby, and they gave the child a rather extravagant name. The child's name is X Æ A-12 Musk, the couple revealed. Elon confirmed the baby's birth in a tweet on Monday. "Mom & baby all good," he wrote on Twitter four hours following a tweet that read: "A few hours away!" He later revealed that the baby was a boy and told fans the child's unique name.
Fans had been practically begging for photos, and in typical Elon Musk fashion, he did not disappoint. Both he and proud mama Grimes shared pictures on social media, and now we have our first peek at baby X Æ A-12!
We know Elon and Grimes like to do things their own way. It seems the same will be true for how they conduct themselves as parents, too. If the first shots we're seeing of their new baby boy are any indication, it looks like they are very much embracing their own style! In one shot of the sleeping baby, Musk added a photo filter that made it look like the new baby had tattoos!
The second post was a little bit more sentimental, though. It showed the proud father holding his newborn son and looking at him lovingly. It's a very sweet image that represents those newborn hospital days so well. You can definitely see the love in Elon's gaze, too.
While it's the seventh baby for Elon, it's the first for the 32-year-old Grimes. The singer's real name is Claire Boucher. She shared photos throughout her pregnancy journey and opened up about pregnancy and becoming a mom for the first time after weeks of pregnancy speculation.
In January, she confirmed she was in fact expecting via Instagram. "Had some complications early on, a decent second trimester but starting to hurt everywhere at 25 wksz," she wrote. "What were yalls experience w this stuff like? I feel like I was woefully ill prepared cuz I dunno if pregnancy is as visible or discussed as it should be. I just didn’t rly understand what I was getting into."
While it's the first baby for Grimes, Elon has been a dad many times over. He had six sons during a previous marriage. Sadly, his first son, Nevada, died tragically of SIDS at just 10 weeks old in 2002 — an unimaginable thing for any parent to have to go through.
Elon and Grimes were first romantically linked in May 2018 and have maintained a private romantic relationship. In a rare interview, Grimes opened up to Rolling Stone about their partnership. "No one believes me about this, but I just did not understand what I was getting into at all," she said at the time. "Not that I’m mad about it. I just didn’t think it would be a thing. The [expletive] that’s happened with my boyfriend this year has overwritten so much of my life’s work."
"He’s just very good at talking me out of my [expletive]," the artist explained."I’ve learned a lot about controlling my state of mind." She also said that they wanted to start a family. "I do actually just really love my boyfriend," she said of Elon. "So I was like, 'You know, sure.'"
She also revealed the complicated emotions that go into deciding to get pregnant. "It’s about getting pregnant," she said. "The sort of tragedy of agreeing to it, even though it’s this great thing. For a girl, it’s sacrificing your body and your freedom. It’s a pretty crazy sacrifice and only half of the population has to do it."
She continued, "It was really profound to me when I decided I was going to do it, to actually go through the act of … like, y’know, unprotected sex. I’m just like, I have sacrificed my power in this moment. I have, like, capitulated, And I have spent my whole life avoiding that situation. I have never capitulated to anything, so it was just a profound commitment."
The couple seems so excited to introduce their new baby to the world. We're quite certain they'll be sharing a lot more as they tackle parenting together. We can't wait to see more baby updates from the home front soon.
