When she was 11 years old, something happened to Carly Fleischmann that defied everything her doctors believed about her unimaginable medical condition.
At age two, it was clear that Carly was different from her twin sister. Doctors concluded that she was severely autistic and, as she grew, Carly's condition became more difficult to deal with.
She could not connect with the world around her, and doctors presumed she would never communicate, but her family never gave up hope.
Then, something happened that no one saw coming. Nine years after her diagnosis, Carly sat down in front of a laptop, stunned her parents, and left her doctors in awe.
She typed the words "HURT" and "HELP." Suddenly, it was clear the young girl had been trapped inside her own body for the past 11 years.
