She Heard An Intruder Trying To Get In, But Wait Until You Hear What She Did…

It is undoubtedly a horrible thing to have to endure the trauma of a violent crime. Just imagine how much anxiety and tension these folks must feel even after the terrible event has passed. Constantly looking over your shoulder is no way to live your life. But, sadly, violent crimes like robberies and home invasions happen all the time.

Luckily, for some people, these traumatic events end in a way that isn't happy, but it's certainly much better than it could have been. This dog, for instance, was shot several times, but he was able to become a hero and saved his family from a home invasion. And this woman may have been mugged, but she ultimately ended up riding away with the upper hand.

When a man broke into a woman's Newport News, Virginia home last week, she had to quickly spring into action to save her life and the life of her 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, that also meant that this wife of a police officer had to use her firearm training to shoot the 25-year-old man who broke into her house.

“Someone started banging on the door and messing with the door knob,” the woman (who did not want to be identified) told WKTR.com. “He was screaming like, ‘Let me in baby, we are okay let me in, they are out to kill me,’ I looked through the peephole and I didn’t recognize who it was, so I latched the top lock, ran to the back, called 911 and got my gun.”

The woman ended up shooting the suspect twice, injuring his hand, stomach, and groin, but he is in the hospital recovering. When he gets out, he could face burglary charges.

"It was either him or me," she said. "I have my daughter to protect."

And protect her, she most certainly did.
