It Looks Like He’s Making A Pie In A Skillet… But What He REALLY Does Is Even Better!

If you’ve ever been to Uno Chicago Grill, you’ve probably eaten a deep-dish pizza – and you've also probably devoured it in no time. They're absolutely delicious!

Now, chef Joel Gamoran shows us how to make the simplest Chicago-style deep-dish pizza in the video below in a skillet.

We’ve shown you how to make an easy cherry pie using a Mason jar, as well as a regular homemade pizza using Pillsbury crust. But, now let’s combine both for this delicious Chicago-style pizza!

Aside from a skillet (Note: Gamoran recommends using a cast iron one if you have it), here’s all the ingredients you'll need:

  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pizza dough
  • Sausage
  • Caramelized onions
  • Mozzarella
  • Basil or oregano
  • Tomato sauce
  • Parmesan cheese

Unlike regular pizza, however, the sauce of a Chicago-style deep-dish pizza goes on last: “And the reason why is because this is going to take 25 minutes to bake at about 425 degrees, which means that anything on top is going to be in there too long and it will burn,” Gamoran says. “So the tomato sauce actually acts as kind of like a little barrier.”

Just try not to get hungry once he takes it out at the 3:30 mark!
