Two weeks ago, Keebler, an adorable 8-year-old dachshund, was found abandoned on the side of the road by someone who noticed he couldn't use his rear legs. He was brought to the local humane society with hopes that his owner would claim him, but sadly, nobody came. The humane society wasn't sure there was anything they could do, and considered euthanizing him.
But that's when one amazing man stepped in!
HandicappedPets.com is a company that provides products, services and support for special needs pets. When they heard about Keebler's story, they were more than happy to help. The following day, Mark Robinson, President of HandicappedPets.com generously delivered a Walkin’ Wheels Mini dog wheelchair and Walkin’ Drag Bag for Keebler’s use. Almost immediately, little Keelber was up and running!
But before he can be adopted Keebler will have to undergo eye surgery. To raise the $2,500 needed for the procedure, the shelter set up a GoFundMe page. As of this posting, they have raised over $3,400 and expect that he will have his surgery this week.
Keebler is now on the road to recovery, and he has a new set of wheels to help him on his way!
