Photographer Takes Stunning Pic Of Mystery Couple’s Engagement, Asks Twitter To Help Find Them

A photographer accidentally came across a couple mid-engagement and took a stunning photo of the special moment. Now he's using the power of social media to try to find the couple and give them their photo.

Photographer Matthew Dippel was visiting Yosemite National Park earlier this month. He set up his camera to take a photo of his friend Josh at Taft Point, a gorgeous vista point. Then he waited for Josh to walk out into the shot.

Instead, however, a couple walked out, and the man got down on one knee.

"I had my settings all ready to go, due to waiting for Josh, so I just snapped away and managed to get a beautiful photo," Matthew told Mashable.

Afterward, Matthew got the planned photo of Josh and attempted to walk over to find the couple. Unfortunately, there were multiple couples there, and he couldn't figure out which one he'd photographed.

"There were maybe 12 other photographers there along with three or four brides and grooms taking photos at the point," he explained.

So Matt took to Twitter, posting the engagement photo with a short explanation and asking if anyone recognized the couple. The tweet got over 327,000 likes, and the search was on.

This breathtaking, professional engagement photo was actually an accident. Photographer Matthew Dippel took the photo while he was waiting for his friend Josh to walk out to the point.

"Before he walked out onto the ledge, the couple did first, and then next thing I knew he was on one knee," Matthew told Mashable.

Naturally, Matthew took a photo of the special moment, since his camera was already ready to go.

He hoped to go over and find the couple to share the photo with them afterward, but he couldn't determine which couple he'd seen from far away.

But with an engagement photo as gorgeous as this one, the couple definitely deserves to see it! So Matthew decided to try social media.

"Twitter help, idk who these two are but I hope this finds them," Matthew tweeted on October 17. "I took this at Taft Point at Yosemite National Park, on October 6th, 2018."

The tweet went viral and currently has over 327,000 likes. Tons of folks are watching and hoping for the couple to turn up.

While others are fascinated by the photo itself.

When this couple does turn up, people have a lot of questions. Like why did she wear a dress to go hiking?

And why are they so close to the edge?

And most important, DID SHE SAY YES?

Mostly, though, Matthew's tweet is turning everyday folks into private investigators trying to find this couple.

And the suspense is killing folks.

Matthew posted a follow-up two days later: still no couple.

In another follow-up, he asked people with tips to message him directly.

Because there have been a lot of false starts so far, and people are getting pretty impatient.

Some people recommended sharing the post on Facebook and Reddit in addition to Twitter, just to cover all bases.

Still no couple yet, but… this is the internet.

They've got to be out there somewhere. Do you recognize them?
