Prince Harry has spent most of 2021 revealing a lot about his family, how he was raised, his thoughts about his mother and father, and experiences that he and his wife have shared. While a lot of what he's spoken about has been quite dark, there have been little patches of light as well.
Harry recently shared that a photo of his mother hangs in Archie's bedroom, and that one of Archie's first words was even "Grandma," which is a direct reference to Princess Diana herself.
Harry explained, "I got a photo of her in his nursery, and it was one of the first words that he said — apart from 'mama,' 'papa,' it was then 'grandma.' Grandma Diana."
He also said that hearing his son say "Grandma" is truly a bittersweet moment. "It's the sweetest thing, but at the same time, it makes me really sad because she should be here."
Earlier this year, Harry and Meghan revealed that Archie has quite an expansive vocabulary. His first word was reportedly "crocodile," which is an impressive feat for a young child.
While appearing on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Harry offered even more about Archie's development: "He's got the most amazing personality. He's already putting three or four words together, he's already singing songs."
While Harry misses his mother and laments the fact that she's no longer here, he also lives secure in the knowledge that she would support him now: "Yeah, I have no doubt that my mom would be incredibly proud of me. I'm living the life that she wanted to live for herself, living the life that she wanted us to be able to live."
Harry even says that while his mother isn't physically here, he knows she's around him all the time: "So not only do I know that she's incredibly proud of me, but that she's helped me get here. And I've never felt her presence more as I have done over the last year."
