Candace Cameron Bure is no stranger to criticism. Even back when she starred in the series Full House, fans often commented on her looks or weight. But now the actress has found a lot of strength and is proving to the world that she simply can't be broken.
Last holiday season, Candace posted an artsy shot taken by a family friend — Melissa Coulier, who's married to Candace's long-time costar and friend Dave Coulier. The picture included Candace, her husband Valeri, and their three children — Natasha, Lev, and Maksim. But instead of sending messages of holiday cheer, followers noted that her kids weren't looking into the camera.
Of course, Candace and her family commented back. And they're having to do the same once again this week.
"Wedding season and I am HERE FOR IT !!!" Candace posted, alongside a picture where both she and daughter Natasha are wearing red. "❤️ Mama gets another family pic (minus Maks who's away at college.)" While many fans made sure to compliment the star, others were a bit alarmed by their choice in attire.
But not everyone was here for it. "Supposed to avoid red at weddings it's a power color steals spotlight from the bride," one person said. While some brides may think that, it's not a universal rule. And it's fairly obvious that Candace and her daughter weren't trying to upstage anyone.
That wasn't the only aspect that followers tried to tear Candace apart for. They also didn't like the fact that her husband and her son Lev appear to have opted not to wear socks to the event.
"The no sock look is a no for me," a follower had the gall to post.
Luckily, Candace had a sense of humor about it. "Thanks for letting us know!" she wrote back in response. She also made sure to tell people that they were very happy with the look, and that's one of the fun aspects of fashion. "People enjoy style in different ways. It's not always necessary to share your opinion," she said.
Once again, the actress felt the need to remind people that this isn't the best social media behavior to adopt. "Don't poke mama bear," she said. "Some of you still need to learn manners. Don't like? Scroll through. Some of you ruin the fun of sharing on social media for everyone."
Candace has made headlines for her pictures quite a bunch. While she doesn't post too much that could be misinterpreted, she also had to explain a photo taken last year that showed her and her husband having an affectionate moment together. In the picture, her husband has his arm wrapped around Candace, and his palm is right over her chest.
"Sweet and spicy," she captioned the photo set. "24 years and counting." However, that hand position worked up plenty of followers who felt like it was inappropriate. While it was posted in September 2020, plenty of people are still leaving comments on it as if it's new.
"We have a playful, loving marriage and I think that's why we’re still married 24 years later," the actress told Fox News. "But I did respond because I always get bummed out when people have been married for so long and then I feel like the joke is always like, 'Oh, we're married – so that means we don't have sex anymore.' And it's kind of like that a lot."
"I love the fact that so many people had an opinion on it," she added. "It made me laugh because I wasn't trying to make a statement. This is just how my husband and I are. You know, we adore each other and we still have fun and we're spicy together."
While it's not Candace's job to continuously remind Instagram users to be kind, she hasn't let the negativity stop her from sharing her life. But she does have a good point — sharing isn't fun when people only want to criticize. The lack of socks on her husband didn't hurt anyone.
The bride even weighed in, making it perfectly clear that she had no issues with what Candace and her daughter chose to wear. "Thank you so much for coming to our wedding!" she wrote. "Your whole family is so sweet. And, I LOVE that you wore red and had a twinning moment with your daughter." Candace personally replied back with a string of hearts.
Candace seems to be incredibly mature and consistently unapologetic for who she is. And she also happens to be extremely protective of her family. If you feel the need to spread negativity, her Instagram account probably isn't the best place for it.
