Does The Movie ‘Jaws’ Hold The Key To A Murder Case That’s Been Cold For Over 50 Years?

One might not think that a clue to an unsolved cold case murder would lie in the blockbuster movie that kept everyone out of the water in the summer of 1975.

This video shared by Inside Edition looks at the murder of an unidentified female in 1974 and how some experts believe that she may have been an extra on set during the making of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws in 1974.

For nearly five decades, the victim of the 1974 cold-blooded homicide was known only as the ‘Lady of the Dunes.’

Her body was discovered when a teenage girl was walking her dog in the resort beach town of Provincetown, Massachusetts. It was a rather horrifying scene, as the body was found lying facedown on a beach towel with her hands missing and her head nearly severed from her body. It was apparent that the killer wanted to make it as difficult as possible for authorities to identify her.

One of the really mysterious links that took years to put together was the woman had a blue bandana and pair of jeans folded up and positioned underneath her body.

Bestselling horror writer Joe Hill, son of Stephen King, has been fascinated by this cold case for years. One of Joe’s theories is that the woman may have very well been an extra on the set of Jaws because there is a woman of similar looks and build wearing a blue bandana and jeans in one of the scenes on the dock.

“The woman in that moment bore a striking resemblance to the facial reconstruction of the dead woman,” Joe explained.

Just this year, authorities were able to finally identify the woman as Ruth Marie Terry.
