Sometimes our pets are the ones who can take a big move to a different city or state really hard. Some pet parents might even find their beloved cats or dogs attempting to run away due to the utter confusion they feel about their new space.
This video shared by Inside Edition tells the incredible story of a couple’s lost cat, who disappeared only to finally make it back to them nearly seven years later.
Erin and Adam Nardis moved with their cat, Capri, approximately seven years ago into a new home in Florida. Shortly after their move, Capri ran away, and the couple had to come to terms with the fact that they’d likely never see her again.
However, the world works in mysterious ways, and Capri was always destined to return home to her family, even after years away from them.
“From my understanding, whoever found her didn’t realize that she was chipped and decided to take her in,” Erin explains. Apparently, the people who rescued Capri all those years ago lost their home due to Hurricane Ian in September 2022 and decided to surrender her to their local animal services department.
In a funny twist of fate, the animal services center in which Capri was staying was just a two-minute drive away from the restaurant that Erin and Adam own, and the three were finally able to be reunited.
After having gone through this experience, Erin’s words of advice for pet parents out there is to always microchip your pets because you never know if they might get lost someday.
