A 49-year-old man who has been described as a builder and decorator has now allegedly confessed to stealing the precious artwork.
According to The Sun, the man had been meticulously planning the daring theft for six months. He claimed he was an art lover and never intended to sell the paintings.
The suspect had the Picasso painting hidden at his home for years but only recently moved it to a riverbed outside Athens. He said he left the painting, wrapped in plastic, among the thick brush.
