A Spring Hill, Tennessee, swim instructor is warning parents about a very specific danger: blue swimsuits. Nikki Scarnati uploaded a video to TikTok in which she explains that some shades of swimsuits might camouflage children too much, making it more difficult to rescue them in the water.
Nikki uses her daughter to demonstrate her point.
First, the young girl mimes drowning while wearing a swimsuit that closely matches the pool she is in. While you can tell she needs help in the water, the bobbing up and down and the matching color makes it more difficult to see her.
Nikki explains, "This is why you do not put your children in blue bathing suits. Look at how difficult it is to see her under the water. And this is in calm water. This is not with a whole bunch of other kids playing and splashing around and having a good time."

One commenter noted that other colors can be tough, too. They wrote, "I’m a former lifeguard and this is absolutely right! Any shade of blue is difficult to see, and so is any pastel light color in general."
