When an officer pulls someone over, they probably don't assume the suspect is going to be another cop. Even if you are an officer, and you’re breaking the law in some way, you should still get treated like a civilian who broke the law. No matter the amount of service a police officer has done, it still shouldn't get them out of trouble.
Inside Edition shared a video about a police captain who was suspected of a DUI. James French, who is the police captain at a station in Oklahoma City, got pulled over by a fellow sergeant of the Oklahoma City Police Department.
In the bodycam footage, you hear the police officer asking the captain if he had been drinking. The only thing the captain could focus on was the officer's bodycam, which he kept trying to tell him to turn off. The officer did inform him that he was not going to turn off his bodycam.
Authorities said that the sergeant spotted the vehicle, which was issued to James French by the city, swerving and quickly pulled the car over. French was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol. You can see in the footage that the captain was even having a tough time standing and kept stumbling over his feet.
The captain continued to ask the officer even when he was out of the vehicle to turn off his bodycam. French kept trying to tell the officer that he was a captain and that’s why he was requesting the officer to turn off his camera.
The officer replied, “I understand that sir. And I am a sergeant. I don’t show favoritism to anyone regardless.”

The sergeant followed the correct traffic stop protocol and gave French a field sobriety test. After French quickly failed the test, to his surprise he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to signal.
The Oklahoma City Police Department stated that French has been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Nobody gets special treatment, no matter what position you hold.
