Priyanka Chopra opened up about the time her father put bars on her windows when she was 16 years old. She had just returned to her home in India after spending four years in America. "He was freaked out," she mentioned of her father's reaction to how much she had changed.
Upon returning from America, Priyanka described herself how most people assume teenagers to be: arrogant, vain, and invincible.
During her interview on The Howard Stern Show, she mentioned that she let her transformation get to her head. She described how she'd "peacock" in her American high school, and boys would follow her home.

"My dad was super paranoid because he sent to America a 12-year-old with braids," Priyanka told Howard. "After all of these American hormones and the food, I come back a little bit more woman than my dad would have anticipated at 16."
What led to her father's course of action to put bars on her windows was when a boy jumped into her balcony one night. "He was outside my balcony and I saw him and I screamed and went to my dad. My dad came, he jumped and he went away," she said. "The next day my dad was like, 'You need rules.'"
She went on to share how her father requested that she wear loose clothes or Indian clothes. She ended up borrowing his clothes because she didn't have anything loose of her own.
Apparently, her ability to glam up her dad's clothes made her style become the talk of her community. "I didn't understand the gravity of it," she shared.
Priyanka explained that in America, she was bullied in high school. But upon returning home to India, she was treated differently. "Suddenly there was this equity on me."
Priyanka is now married to Nick Jonas. The couple married in 2018 and share one child together.
