Jennifer Lopez Admits To Feeling ‘Guilt’ About Her Kids Being Forced Into The Public Eye

Being a celebrity comes with its fair share of challenges, and when it intersects with the role of a parent, things can get complex quickly. Jennifer Lopez, who is the mother of twins Emme and Max, expressed her sympathy for kids who are raised by famous parents, because they didn’t choose that type of life.

In an interview with Audacy, Jennifer Lopez talked about the guilt that she feels raising her kids in the spotlight with ex-husband Marc Anthony. She claims that she hasn’t talked to her now 15-year-old twins a lot about their unique situation.

Now that the twins are getting older, they are becoming aware of their surroundings more and starting to tell Jennifer about how people are treating them.

In an interview back in 2017, Jennifer said, “You go along as an actress or a performer in this business and it’s a very me, me, me business, you know what I mean? My career, my things, what am I going to do next, what are my choices, and when you have kids it becomes not about you, it becomes about them.”

Jennifer Lopez talked about her children's exposure to the public eye throughout their lives and how she feels about it as a mom. As a mother, she feels responsible for this level of attention, and it weighs on her because she feels that since she brought them into this life of fame, she is responsible for it.

She also expresses how she feels about them having to have eyes on them all the time and having to feel judged. It’s hard, especially as a teenager, to feel judged by people you don’t even know or have never met but are continuously followed around, having pictures taken of you.

At the end of her interview with Audacy, she said, “I just want them to be whole, healthy, loving beings, who stand in their own truth and [are] unapologetically themselves. I want them to know that there’s nothing that they can’t accomplish.”

Being a mom is a difficult job; I can’t imagine being a mom and being in the spotlight all the time — so props to Jennifer for staying strong and always trying to keep her kids on track and showing them nothing but love.
