Stevie Nicks Says ‘Thank You’ To Taylor Swift For Writing This Very Special Song

Taylor Swift is a celebrated icon who has been a source of comfort for people going through breakups and moments of grief, and she’s a symbol of empowerment for independent women all over the world. Taylor’s songs even resonate with some of the world's biggest stars.

Stevie Nicks is another female artist who is looked up to a lot. Her songs are still listened to, to this day, and make you feel magical every time you hear them. In November 2022, Stevie’s longtime bandmate and one of her closest friends, Christine McVie, passed away.

At Stevie’s 2023 concert in Atlanta, she said, “Thank you to Taylor Swift, for doing a favor for me and that is writing a song called ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid.’” Stevie has been grieving the loss of Christine, and Taylor’s song has helped her through this tough time.

Stevie opened up to her Atlanta crowd about the special bond she had with Christine during their 50-year friendship. The way Stevie explained her bond with Christine was heartwarming.

Stevie and Christine had the bond that a lot of women experience with their friend soulmates. No matter what, no matter where, and no matter when, they were always there for each other. When Stevie is explaining this to the crowd, you can hear the grief in her voice, but you can also hear her attempting to be strong for Christine.

Entertainment Tonight played a part of Taylor’s song that Stevie was referring to, and I immediately added it to my Spotify playlist. When Stevie explained her reason for why Taylor’s song is so beneficial to her, it made me tear up.

She said, “When it was the two of us, the two of us were on our own, kids. We always were. And now I’m having to learn, to be on my own kid, by myself.”

When Christine died, Stevie gave a statement saying, “My best friend in the whole world since the very first day of 1975,” which was the day Stevie joined Fleetwood Mac.
