Actor Tom Hanks is an American treasure and has a reputation for being a nice guy. Apparently, this might not be genetic. His niece, Carly Reeves, was a competitor on season two of the ABC reality show Claim To Fame. When she got eliminated in the first episode, she did not take it well.
The series follows a group of people who happen to be related to a celebrity. Hosted by Kevin and Frankie Jonas, the point of the competition is to figure out who exactly the contestants are related to. Carly was not pleased about the clue her fellow contestants were given to use against her. She had a tantrum when exiting the show. Perhaps Tom needs to teach her a life lesson or two.
The clue wall contained a photo of the iconic bench from Tom’s film Forrest Gump. Carly attempted to misdirect her fellow castmates away from the clue, but was not successful. This led to her demise.
Hugo, a fellow contestant, was the one who figured out who she was first. He was the one who had her eliminated, which did not sit right with Carly. She cried and confessed she was "just a little shocked" to be going home so soon.

"I was not expecting this at all. I helped you Hugo, I frickin' helped you!" she said. "If any of them are right, I swear, I hope you go home because of that. But he was smart, he played smart, so I give him credit."
Carly did not stop there. When she went to the house to pack up her things, she screamed so loud her castmates heard her outside. She then ranted and raved about how the clue was unfair.
"These frickin' clues are so frickin' obvious. Frickin' bench?! It's the frickin' poster of frickin' Forrest Gump, are you kidding me?" she raged. "Why a bench? Why a bench?! There's literally no benches in any other movie. Even Gabriel found that out, he's not even smart."
Her slightly unhinged monologue continued. "I didn't even get to do any challenges! I don't deserve this," she said. "I should have more camera time, I should be here longer! No one expected that, no one!"
After she had some time to cool down, Carly spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her experience on the show. She still had not completely let go of the unfairness of the clue, but did admit she may have "overreacted a little bit." She went on to explain: “I'm an emotional, very dramatic person."
She went on to explain that Tom knows she participated in the series and was eliminated first. "Yeah, I told him that. I said, 'Guess what your clue was?' And he goes, 'What?' I said, 'A bench!' He was like, 'Ahhhh,'" she recalled. "At first, he didn't understand the game and then I was like, 'It's clues from your movies.' And then he said, 'Oh, OK. Got it. Got it.'"
Carly is not quite sure if she wants her uncle to watch the show though. "I hope I don't embarrass him, but I don't think I do … He's happy for me no matter what. He did ask me, 'Did you make some money?' And I was like, 'Yeah, I made a little bit.' And he said, 'OK, good.' So, he was happy that I made a little money," she concluded.
