Kristin Davis Opens Up About Becoming A Mom In Her 40s And 50s: ‘No Other Way’

In a society where women are often told that it's better to have kids earlier on, Kristin Davis doesn't have any regrets about becoming a mother later on in her life. The And Just Like That… actress made a recent appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna where she opened up about adopting two kids, one in her 40s and the other in her 50s.

“For me, there was no other way that it could have happened,” she shared. “People sometimes say, ‘Oh, do you regret this, or regret that?’ No, I don’t have any regrets because I love my kids, and I don’t think I was ready [before]. I wasn’t there in my head or my heart yet.”

The 58-year-old adopted her daughter, Gemma Rose, in 2011. She adopted her son, Wilson, in 2018. In 2019, during a Red Table Talk interview, she shared with Jada Pinkett Smith that she'd started thinking about adoption around 38 years old. "Time was ticking," she stated, as she explained that she started feeling a deep need to be a mother.

Kristin has also been open about what it's like raising two Black children as a white mom. In that same 2019 interview, she shared that she gained more of a direct understanding of prejudice. “Because my children are African American, I feel like it’s my duty and my job to do as much research, as much work, build as many bridges as possible because you are their community."
