Jessica Simpson is speaking out regarding comments about how her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, treated her on their reality show, Newlyweds. The show premiered in 2003, around 10 months after the former couple had wed. But their private lives were opened up to the public, and criticism on their marriage flowed in.
A lot of TikTokers are rewatching or discovering the show and watching it for the first time, and they have a lot to say about how Nick treated Jessica.
"If this comes to Netflix now I think everyone will see how toxic nick actually was," someone commented on a video.
Someone else commented: "He was SO mean to her. Always so condescending and dismissive."
Jessica shares that she now sees the show in a different light. “I was so young, I didn’t even have a hold on who I was as a person,” she said. She also shared that she doesn't regret it at all. "If anything, it was great TV. It was very real and Nick and I actually had a lot of fun.”

The former couple divorced in 2006. Jessica has been married to Eric Johnson since 2014, and the couple have three children. Nick is now married to Vanessa Lachey, whom he wed in 2011. The pair also share three kids.
