NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson recently posted on Instagram thanking people for their support as he deals with the loss of his in-laws and nephew. On June 27, Jack Janway, 69, his wife Terry Lynn Janway, 68, and their 11-year-old grandson Dalton Janway were found dead at their home in Oklahoma. According to NBC News, Terry Lynn Janway was the suspect in the shooting that resulted in their deaths.
The Muskogee Police Department dispatch received a call at about 9:05 p.m. on June 26. Before hanging up, a woman said someone had a gun. Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw someone lying in the hallway. They then heard another gunshot in the house, where they found two other people had died.
The victims were the parents of Jimmie's wife, Chandra Janway, and Chandra and Jimmie's nephew.
About a month after the tragedy, Jimmie spoke publicly about it on Instagram. In his post, he thanked people for their love, support and compassion "during this unthinkably sad time."
NASCAR released a statement on June 27, saying, “We are saddened by the tragic deaths of members of Chandra Johnson’s family. The entire NASCAR family extends its deepest support and condolences during this difficult time to Chandra, Jimmie and the entire Johnson & Janway families.”
