Life can get pretty surreal. Like, for example, if you are driving down Highway 275 eastbound in Nebraska and see an adult bull riding shotgun in the vehicle next to you. You might think you are dreaming.
It turns out that this is real life. Lee Meyer took his adult Watusi bull, who is named Howdy Doody, out for a spin on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He was quickly pulled over by the Norfolk Police Division, which had received calls about the situation.
“The officers received a call referencing a car driving into town that had a cow in it,” Norfolk Police Division Capt. Chad Reiman told News Channel Nebraska. “They thought that it was going to be a calf, something small or something that would actually fit inside the vehicle.” They were in for a fun surprise. “As a result, the officer performed a traffic stop and addressed some traffic violations that were occurring with that particular situation,” the police captain went on to say.
The officer issued Lee some warnings and told him to take the animal home. “There were some citable issues with that situation,” Reiman added. It was probably not the safest situation for the public.

“I don’t know why he was doing it that day,” Reiman explained, reported People magazine. “I asked him what kind of animal it was, where he lived, how far he came from, and those types of things. I talked to him about the violations that were occurring and that was pretty much the extent of our conversation."
"I can honestly say that I haven’t seen anything like that before,” he added. “It was different, for sure. You’re not going to run across that every day.”
This was not the first time Howdy Doody was spotted on the road. Lee and he took part in the Kolach Days Parade in Verdigre 2019 and 2017. That bull sure does get around.
