Seal and Heidi Klum were married for seven years, and like many couples, they definitely experienced their own ups and downs. While the pair have mostly stayed quiet about what did and didn't go wrong in their marriage, every so often one of them unexpectedly offers up somewhat juicy details.
Seal opened up to Andy Cohen about which parts of his marriage he did and didn't enjoy. It turns out those annual vow renewals are right at the top of the list of things he'd love to not have done.
After being asked about the couple's annual tradition of renewing their vows, Seal admitted that none of it was his idea: "That was my ex-wife's idea, to be honest. It kind of turned into a circus which I wasn't terribly fond of. Because I'm, by default, I'm quite a private person."

The singer went on to add that he felt he had to do the parties for the team. He added that he thought the parties were "cool," but that "you're married, you become a team player, and you understand that each of you have different lives and you do whatever you can to support your partner's life."
When asked about the "big, public" nature of the events, Seal agreed and noted that the renewals being so public was what he liked least. "Like I said, relationships are all about committing, they're all about support and you do things for the greater good and the greater good in our case was always the family."
While 10 years have elapsed since the pair divorced, it turns out that co-parenting their four children still isn't always easy. In May of this year, Seal spoke to Us Weekly about what their co-parenting experience is like right now.
"It can be challenging," he said. "It requires teamwork. If you are a team, if both parents are a team, then it is really easy and that's not a real challenge at all."
However, he also added that he and Heidi have never been a great team. "No. … I never had that teamwork [with Heidi]. We never had teamwork."
In August 2020, the two had legal issues concerning custody of their children. Heidi planned to work in Germany and wanted the kids with her.
It turns out that's what the kids wanted, too. A source told Us Weekly, "The kids want to be with Heidi. She has to go to Germany because of limitations of crew coming to the United States during [the health crisis], so she is bringing them back for a few weeks at Christmas to spend time with their dad."
It seems that Seal understands the role he has in his children's lives. In the same interview, he noted, "One quickly realizes about children, particularly as they grow older, is that they’re not yours. You just have the privilege of being able to be sort of [a] guiding figure in the development of their lives, but they’re not really your children. You just happened to be, you know, the fortunate caretakers."
